It really didn't take that long for me to get my monk to level 20 and get the icon. Maybe about 1 week and a half - and the stuff did cost quite a bit but i have made it back and made so so much more.
I see a lot of people saying to save your cash for factions, which may be a good idea, but at the same time you could probley make the money back and more rather quickly. Just depends on how much time you have. I do think its a great build. Even though they nerfed it and the drops arent as great as they once were - You will make tons more quicker than you would farming with henchies. |

I played on him last night and think i may keep him (still hate healing though) but if i decide to get rid of him if they do nerf them, then i could always salvage and sell the runes. But the main thing about the thread was just to find out from you guys if you thought a 55 was worth all the investment when i already have a warrior who farms nicely for me. |

Started heal/protect monk, then going the route of 55hp can farm and still working on two more sup runes to go. I've been able to unlock a ton of weapon upgrades and some runes and getting tons of skill points for use with unlocking other classes.
I find monk fun for both pve and farming and can switch back in forth between the two. I messed the "always" can always get in to a party w/ my ele and the Aoe change, so by making a monk, I can easily still get in to parties. I do have an odd functional heal / protect build that seems to work pretty well. kc99, PM me if your curious or check out the monk fourms and healers build. |

I think a Mo/x having an armor set with 5 superior runes is worth it in my opinion. If you matched up the runes correctly (one set chest has superior heal, the other minor, etc) and used the superior runes on Droknar's armor, you can easily switch between a normal prot monk, heal monk, smite, and 55. If you like playing monk as heal/prot/smite like I did, then the only real extra spending was 2 armor pieces and 2 superior runes (1 divine and one cheapest). But then I made my when it was about half the price per rune... still I think it's worth it.

I created a Mo/W specificly for farming, having got fed up of my original char, a W/R, having minimal farming abilities...
After a few months of 55ing, and getting progressively more bored of it... I switched back to my W/R, changed him to a W/Me, knocked together my own farming build and my monks been resigned to gathering dust and the occasional guild trip ever since... Personally i'd say, give it a go, it's certainly a change from warrior farming... Worst come to the worst... You've unlocked some new skills for pvp... |

It's WELL worth it. I've made at least 20-30 times the amount i spent on my runes etc using my 55hp monk. I have also ENJOYED myself doing it. There is so much versatility in farming with a 55hp monk! I mean, you can farm fog nightmares, Ice Imps, Ettins, Griffons, Smites/Aatxes/Dryders etc, Charr, Undead. Well, anything that isnt shattery-enchantery (but you can even do THAT if you use cover enchants like vig. spirit!) or life-stealingy. Or knockdowny.

I have a primary char E/Mo so I could do the 55Mo with it, but I rather like the solo earth farming build and can tackle easily 10 hydra's, so guildies witnessed this already, and where speechless for a moment. And get easily 2k per run (I don't need the weapons, salvaging is my thing and really brings in the gold to, easier to sell on the run - so no hastle to get thing sold and lots of storage room free) and OBSIDIAN FLESH so rocks.
Got a 15k armorset (wont go for the FoW ele armor, simply that it isnt beautifull IMHO), but got all green ele items in the game. And currently saving up money for Factions. But for primary monk, I recently started one, simply because I won't a monk ready for gvg, because that is something our guild could use. And since I'm use to be a supporting role in with my ele, a monk isn't that difficult to switch. Tried water monking with the ele, so primary monk is working fine for me too. I hope I didn't make to my spellingerrors, english isn't my primary language, and if so you can always pm, that way I learn even more Last edited by S_Serpent; Feb 22, 2006 at 10:39 AM // 10:39.. |
